When work feels like a front-row seat to a comedy show

There are moments in the studio when work doesn’t feel like work at all, but a genuine privilege. Today, we’re flipping through the pages of our journal from the last two years, stopping at a collaboration that had us roaring with laughter during every single session: The Divertis Group.

We’ve been reminiscing about the recording sessions for their song dedicated to prime-minister, Bolojan. Picture the atmosphere: Cristi (Grețcu) sings with intense passion, “Dă-mi, Doamne, timp” (Give me time, Lord) —a brilliant parody of the famous track by the other Cristi, from the rock band Iris. Meanwhile, Maier (stepping into his “Puia” persona) drops the ultimate reality check: “Bolojane, who would’ve thought we’d be taking it on the chin again?”.

They say a sound engineer should always be serious. Well, we challenge any of you to stay composed at the mixing desk when Divertis starts “spilling the tea” about Romanian reality. Spoiler: It’s mission impossible!

While in the lyrics Cristi was desperately pleading, “Give me, Lord, time,” we were the ones truly needing it in the studio—but for a much more earthly reason: we needed several minutes to recover from the fits of laughter triggered by the guys’ rhymes just so we could hit the REC button again.

How about you? How is that “ash” in your wallet doing? Do we still have enough left for a juice, or are we waiting for the next “reform”?
